Job Summary

The Local Dispatcher will assist in providing direction and communication with Local Division Drivers; ensuring contact compliance, system monitoring, and coordinating deliveries in order to maintain on-time performance, maximize efficiency, and minimize customer wait times as well as service disruptions. 

Responsibilities

• Set positive example for Local Drivers by providing support and positive leadership.
• Responsible for positive employee morale and quality customer service.
• Assess staffing needs as determined by service hours and peak delivery periods.
• Ensure dispatch protocols are in compliance with both client and company policies and procedures.
• Participate in the training programs for new hires.
• Monitor dispatch performance as it relates to driver incidents, equipment failure, vehicle breakdowns, and other potential service disruptions.
• Ensure timely communications with other departments (including warehouses) of load changes.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
• Experience with McLeod (Strongly preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products
