Summary
The Security Coordinator is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining security strategy with a strong focus on total security in the yards and other properties. When necessary, they will also be responsible for conducting on-site investigations related to transportation incidents, compliance audits, and operational reviews. The Security Coordinator will travel extensively to various locations, gather and analyze evidence, and prepare comprehensive reports to support operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee security strategies with a focus on total security across operations.
- Identify vulnerabilities and recommend measures to mitigate security risks.
- Ensure the protection of assets, personnel, and information through robust security protocols.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on security best practices and emergency procedures.
- Conduct thorough investigations into transportation-related incidents, including vehicle accidents, cargo issues, and employee conduct.
- Travel frequently to perform on-site inspections and collect relevant evidence.
- Interview drivers, employees, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather accurate and comprehensive information.
- Liaise with local law enforcement officials in areas relevant to open investigations.
- Document and analyze findings to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Collaborate with internal departments, legal teams, and external agencies as required.
- Prepare clear, detailed, and timely investigative reports for senior management.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to enhance investigative processes.
- Up to 75% travel required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Transportation Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in field investigations, detective work, or a related role. Experience in the transportation or logistics industry (preferred).
- Moderate understanding of transportation industry regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using investigation tools, software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license with ability to maintain insurability standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
