The Maintenance Manager is responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all employees by adhering to all safety/regulatory procedures and by reporting and correcting unsafe conditions when observed.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the Maintenance departments’ activities and resources necessary for safely supporting the production departments such as installation and maintenance of heavy equipment machinery.
- Guide maintenance employees on continuous improvement projects, such as automation, process improvement best practices, etc.
- Responsible for leading members to perform maintenance work in a manner that improves equipment reliability and ensures that all PSM and employee safety standards are met.
- Responsible for complying with all safety standards or rules set forth by the Company.
- Work on special projects, both engineering and those dealing with changes in the infrastructure of our organization.
- Lead maintenance team in the solution of issues that impact productivity, equipment safety, and employee safety using work requests, work orders, and training.
- Monitor work requests, work schedules, and work order completion rates and address outages as they arise.
- Direct further development of spare parts inventory processes, participate in cycle counts, and continuously evaluate inventory levels to ensure critical spare parts are promptly available without excessive quantities.
- Regularly assess conditions and performance at each facility and develop plans to address any issues in cooperation with plant leadership.
- Lead the maintenance team to understand and maintain an audit-ready status.
- Ensure constant regulatory compliance through action plans and effective training (OSHA, EPA, PSM, etc.).
- Perform incident investigations and file written reports for safety programs and/or HR personnel cases.
- Administer documented corrective actions in accordance with plant policies and consistent practices.
- Comply with and support manufacturing practices, safety protocols, and PSM programs.
- Contributes to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
- Lead and manage activities around asset management by maintaining and enhancing the plant’s property and equipment, improving substandard facilities, and requesting funds to upgrade facilities through budgets and capital funding requests.
- Ability to work with other departments to achieve the division’s visions and strategies by motivating, inspiring, and gaining commitment to a course of action that achieves results.
- Lead maintenance in root cause analysis and develop work procedurse to minimize or eliminate problems.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in Maintenance Supervising and/or a Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering.
- Prior experience in a structured maintenance environment where work is scheduled and spare parts are inventoried locally.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing training and reliability programs.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and controls.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English fluently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate efficiently with external & internal customers.
- Possession of key competencies including conflict management, business negotiation, organization, analytical skills, and decision-making.
- Ability to remain flexible in a dynamic, growing work environment.
- Excellent presentation, organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize and expedite tasks upon request.
- Effective communication with leadership, maintenance team members, production team members, vendors, and contractors via email, phone, or one-on-one to advance solutions to problems.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and provide leadership and training to key personnel.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problem areas before they become exacerbated.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with peers within a team environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Computerized Maintenance System (CMMS).
- Knowledge of computerized drafting skills preferred.
