The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sourcing and securing motor carriers that meet the company’s profit, service, and safety objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the company achieves the profit margin objective for each transaction.
  • Guarantee on-time service levels are at 97% or higher.
  • Demonstrate, revere, and protect the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Answer phone calls with enthusiasm, a sense of care, and urgency and within the first ring whenever possible. Respond promptly to all customer & carrier requests: within 15 minutes for customers, 30 minutes for carriers. 
  • Assign customer loads to pre-qualified carriers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure loads are booked with pre-qualified carriers based on the company’s carrier qualification standards.
  • Properly manage all details, information, and paperwork associated with each load or customer order to ensure accurate billing and payment.
  • Carefully manage to ensure timely pickup and delivery of customer shipments.
  • Carefully and proactively communicate all information to all parties involved in shipment transactions including customers, co-workers, carriers, drivers, and others.
  • Provide very specific information when communicating to customers, co-workers, and carriers.
  • Practice sound fiscal control of all company expenditures.
  • Be resourceful and demonstrate good economical judgment as it pertains to company assets.
  • Practice and maintain appropriate confidentiality with carriers as it pertains to our customer list, revenues, and rates.
  • Practice, honor, and maintain day-to-day processes and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience (Preferred).
  • General knowledge of the locations of the 48 continental states and Canada as required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills, collaboration, problem-solving, and building professional relationships with carriers, shippers, and internal/external customers.
  • Basic mathematical skills include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • The ability to convert standard time to military time and to convert time-based on the various time zones within the Continental U.S. and Canada as required.
  • Ability to use the postal zip code to locate the corresponding region of the country.
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of the Transportation and Logistics industry.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
